Karastan and New York Fall Fashion Week 2016

While it may seem like we’re still pondering purchasing that poncho from fall 2015, the next season is fast upon us with designers latest crop of cutting edge creations already center stage. New York Fashion Week (#NYFW) wrapped up last Thursday, February 18th, after an eight day sprint of shows and style statements forecasting fashion for fall 2016.

Standing out of the crowd were a few repeat offender trends that made appearances in an array of shows. As our Karastan design team studies high fashion for the inspiration behind our rug and carpet designs, it is no surprise we found the similar styles in our freshest flooring debuts. From animal prints to neutrals to metallics, Karastan has your floor in fashion too!

The former Creative Director of Banana Republic, Marissa Webb, debuted her first full collection under her name alone at this year’s New York Fall Fashion Week. Her designs focused on “buy-now, wear-now” pieces in neutral hues, like chic and classic camel. Expect to see tons of tan textures from other designers as well this fall, with shades ranging from muted khaki to the cusp of cream. Speaking to the trend, the Karaloc woven herringbone pattern of Karastan’s Cobble Ridge carpet is available in an array of neutral hues.

A playful pairing of prints paraded down multiple runways during this year’s New York Fashion Week, with 1970’s inspired silhouettes and palettes still holding strong. Minimalism was left in the dust as a fresh mix of florals and graphic motifs took center stage for fall. Emulate the pattern play with the Palmyra Area Rug from the Karastan Spice Market collection in a tawny Tobacco hue.

Polished Plaids

By the looks of things, it seems designers have traded traditional tartan plaids for something a little softer this fall. Polished plaid prints with cleaner lines padded down multiple runways throughout last week’s New York Fashion Week. Replicate the refined look in your interiors with Karastan’s luxurious Woolston Plaid carpet, lavishly woven with 100% New Zealand wool and available in eight expertly blended hues.
